MAP Facilitator's Day - Nov 11th in Sheffield Cathedral
For a third year running, Mike Chew and Mark Ireland are organising a MAP facilitator's day - this year hosted by the Dean at Sheffield at the Cathedral on November 11th The previous conferences have proved useful for sharing both progress to date and future plans. The output led to new insights and fresh material being added to the 'churchmaps.co.uk' website. Coffee will be available from 10am, and the programme will start at 11am and finish by 3pm. The day will begin with short presentations about the latest news about use of MAP, then there will be workshops on topics selected by participants. Handouts will be available. Please bring a packed lunch or alternatively, there are coffee shops and sandwich bars close by and drinks will be provided. A fee will be payable on the day to cover costs - to be advised when they have been calculated Please would those are interested in attending email the organising team via their website (www.churchmaps.co.uk and click on 'email us') and you will receive more details and a booking form. It would help if you could inform us as soon as possible so that we can work out the fees for each person
MAP Story At the UK MAP study day in November 2009, Mike Chew showed a 6 minute video which tells the story of Mission Action Planning at St John’s Church Whittle -le-Woods. This was made by a PCC member to explain MAP to the congregation. There was a huge demand for copies of it, so Mike asked the vicar’s permission to put it on YouTube Anyone can now access it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V1l0po1Tq8
New MAP Book
Mike Chew and Mark Ireland (vicar of Wellington and former diocesan missioner for Lichfield) have written a book about MAP, published by SPCK in November 2009. Forwarded by David Hope – the first Bishop to use MAP – the book argues the case for producing a MAP, describes a practical ongoing process, gives practical examples, and provides evidence of the effectiveness of the process. It is based on research conducted in several dioceses of the Church of England – at diocesan and parish levels
